Sundial for macOS 14 and later

Write to sundial@mathd.com. I read every message. I answer in English or French, usually within a few business days.

What to include

Do not send folder paths or screenshots with file names you want to keep private. A description is enough for most reports.

Common questions

Sundial cannot see some folders

Sundial reads only the folder you give it through the picker. macOS blocks the rest. A whole-volume scan also needs Full Disk Access, in System Settings, Privacy & Security. That grant is separate from the folder picker.

The numbers do not match Finder

Sundial reports allocated size on disk. Some Finder columns report logical size instead. Unaccounted space on a volume scan can include snapshots and purgeable space. It is a difference, not a list of files you can delete.

A scan is slow, or memory grows

The first scan of a large folder reads every entry. Later scans reuse the saved scan and read the filesystem event journal for the parts that changed. Choose Forget saved scans to start clean.

I moved the wrong item to Trash

Sundial never empties Trash. Open Trash in Finder and choose Put Back.

Privacy

Sundial has no network code and collects nothing. Read the privacy policy.
